Welcome to Red Colony, the future of Mars... today!

We are an international symposium, spanning students and professionals, scientists and laymen alike, all with a desire to colonize and terraform Mars. Our visitors have the opportunity to submit ideas in these evolving fields, knowing they are literally writing the books on Mars. Their articles are discussed by the scientific community until the most comprehensive, efficient and realistic Plan is developed and enacted. One of the most limiting factors of going anywhere in space is that you have to get there. Even in the beginning, there is an incredible challenge: the gravity of the Earth, three times that of Mars and six times that of our closest celestial body, the moon. We have already beaten this obstacle, making it somewhat routine through the Space Shuttle...

MarsDrive Supporting Mars Gravity BioSatellite
MarsDrive is pleased to announced that we have secured a place on the MarsGravity BioSatellite spacecraft for our logo to be launched in 2010. We would like to thank our supporters whose contributions have made this possible and will be setting a fund raising goal of $8000 for further support for this most important project in the next 12 months. If you would like to help us take this next big step you can donate by pressing the paypal button here. You can also find our logo at the "Your Name Into Space" website here.

The Mars Gravity Biosatellite Project is a ground-breaking undertaking to study the effects of Martian gravity on mammals. We are taking the first step towards human missions to Mars - and beyond. Data from this mission will make a significant contribution to our understanding of fundamental space biology and greatly advance human space exploration.

New plastic is strong as steel, transparent
"ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- By mimicking a brick-and-mortar molecular structure found in seashells, University of Michigan researchers created a composite plastic that's as strong as steel but lighter and transparent.

It's made of layers of clay nanosheets and a water-soluble polymer that shares chemistry with white glue."

MER's are Alive!
The MER rovers have survived the dust storm that threatened to decommission them. While the rovers are now producing electricity, they are only producing half of what they were before the storm, and there is still much find dust to settle, potently on the rover's panels.

The updating program is still broken; sorry for the lack of news recently (esp.: Crew ends Mars Mission sim and Martian Soil may show signs of life.

Phoenix Mars Lander is launched
On August 4, 2007 at 5:26 EDT the Phoenix Mars Lander was launched. It will cost for 10 months, until it lands in the north of Mars to search for water and signs of life. Let us hope that Phoenix does as well as the MER's. Godspeed to the team.

Sorry for this announcment taking so long; the program we use to update is broken, and trying to fix it was taking so long, so this is a direct edit to the news database (which isn't recommended:) ).
