The European Space Agency's mission to Mars, Mars Express is set to enter Mars's atmosphere in mid-December and eject the Beagle 2 Lander on December 19th. If all goes according to plan, the lander will parachute to the surface and begin conducting experiments on December 25th. As you might remember, the Mars Pathfinder landed on Mars on Independence Day, 1997, and Viking I was originally planned to land on the United States Bicentennial. Mars seems to have already become a popular place to spend the holidays.
