India Plans Mars Mission

Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam has come forward with new goals for the Indian space program, now forty years old. India is a nation of a billion people, with a population below the poverty line roughly equal to that of the entire United States. Nevertheless, Kalam stated that the space program will benefit all Indians with such programs as resource location, moon resource extraction, and a manned mission to Mars. All of these are slated to happen within the next fifty years.
