Glossary![]() Throughout Red Colony's articles and fiction are some words that you might not know. That's why we've created a convenient glossary. A word in blue can be clicked to reveal its definition. Below is a list of all the terms in the glossary with their definitions. here. Kim Stanley Robinson - American novelist, born 1952, most famous for his Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars trilogy, depicting the colonization and terraformation of Mars from modern times well into the future. Methanogen - A strictly anaerobic bacteria that converts CO2 to methane. Millibar - One-thousandth of a bar, or approximately one-thousandth of the Earth's atmospheric pressure at sea level. Perfluorocarbon - A man-made super-greenhouse gas, some 6000 times more effective than carbon-dioxide, entirely toxin-free, and made up of molecules of carbon, fluorine, and/or sulfur. Also known as PFCs. Terraform - To transform a planet without life into a planet that can sustain plants and animals on the surface (literally: to create another Earth). |
