Sunday, September 5, 2004 New Article: Terrestrial Planet Finder and SETI An alien landscape. Credit: Spectral-Design.net Matthew Johnson, author of his Terraforming Method has written an article entitled The Terrestrial Planet Finder and SETI. The article explains that while SETI currently looks for radio signals from distant planets to find signs of intelligent life in the universe, we could use NASA's proposed Terrestial Planet Finder (an orbital telescope platform) to search for earth-like planets that shouldn't be earth-like. In other words, we would search for civilizations that have terraformed other planets. Here's what Matt has to say about it: I had mentioned this idea a while back on this site, and I felt that giving all the details would be interesting. I thought of this while on Red Colony. Terraforming was the inspiration. I can't believe no one else seems to have thought of this. @ 22:03 EST
